For subscription to insurance, for customs, for shared-property transactions or for a succession: estimation of the market value of the ship and its equipment
In which cases will an evaluation expert assessment be required?
- An expert assessment including estimation of the market value of your sailboat or motor boat (estimated depending on its construction quality, its age, maintenance, quotation, fitting out, the potential reconditioning costs and the market price at the time of the expert assessment) will be required by your insurer. This pre-insurance expert assessment is carried out to subscribe to a first insurance or to sign a contract renewal.
- Depending on the insurance contract, the insured value of your boat will be the agreed value from the day the contract was signed or the market value the day of an accident or damage.
- This type of naval expert assessment report may also be required by funding bodies, by customs while returning from tax exemption, or by shared-property holders for a succession or a share transaction.
NB : This preliminary expert assessment is intended to estimate the market value of a ship and/or its equipment and not to assess condition in detail, sailability, or to try out the correct functioning, including equipment. Therefore, this evaluation expert assessment may not be used as a reference as for the condition or the sailability of the boat.
The naval expert assessment visit:
Will preferably be held in the presence of the owner or his representative.
Is a global visual examination of all accessible parts, non invasive and requires no disassembling.
A naval expert assessment report is drawn up:
It will be sent to you a maximum of five working days after the end of the final visit (in the case of an oil check, count on ten days after the visit)
It will be supported by the results of the metrological inspection, the potential physic-chemical data, the pictures, and the potential recommendations about reconditioning or the necessary check-ups.
The report will be sent to you by air mail and via email (PDF document)
